I’m angry at Usher today. That stupid new song ‘OMG’. That’s the name of the song not what i’m saying. What happened to him? I remember the days of ‘U Remind Me’ where his lyrics had meaning (sort of) and when his dancing lit up the TV screen. As he grew up we had emotional gems such as ‘Confessions’ and ‘Burn’, with real, personal, meaningful lyrics. And that amazing duet with Alicia Keys, My Boo. Now we have ‘honey got a booty like pow pow pow, honey got some boobies like wow, oh wow’. Reminds me of teenage boys and i’m slightly repulsed.
Oh Usher. Where did it go wrong?
And while i’m on a rant the STUPID OFFICIAL FEED ON YOUTUBE won’t work for me because I’M IN THE UK! IDIOTIC. *And breathe*
Why? That really is my question, and this question is two pronged. In the last few days I can remember two very clear examples of this new phenomenon within celebrity circles. Ashley Cole and Vernon Kay. I’m not going to lie, I didn’t really get it when I heard the “kids” were “sexting” at school (I mean come on, school boyfriends/ girlfriends usually last about five minutes, and teenagers are stupid and vindictive. Don’t look at me like that. I was one; I remember.) But I really don’t get why you would do it as a celebrity.
Firstly, why? Why would you do that to your celebrity partner? You know it’s going to be discovered, particularly if you choose some dodgy page 3 model hungry for fame. (Why do they always choose page 3 models? I don’t get that.) And with PICTURE evidence. Seriously?!
And text cheating on Cheryl Cole and Tess Daly? Have you boys seen yourselves? And have you seen your lusted after partners? There are even suggestions online that Cheryl wants a divorce. Now wouldn’t that make you feel stupid if you were Ashley? Over dodgy naked pictures he claims he never sent. I very much doubt that Cheryl really does want a divorce, but it really is a wake up call, at least I hope so. Poor Tess is hiding away from the media, and I can’t blame her. How do you defend your man if he is an idiot? Why put yourself in the public eye to be judged as to why he felt the need to send the texts in the first place, even though it is actually not your fault at all?! Why rehash the same issues over and over with each paper, reopening the wound? I think I would hide too!
Secondly, why? Why would a journalist do that to a family? Why do they think they have the right? Yes, ok, those without dirt have nothing to fear, and no, they should not have behaved in that way in the first place BUT they have not actually cheated (as far as we know). I really believe people in the public eye have a right to a private life, even those who are voluntarily famous. How dare some journalist or scout think it is ok to tell the world what they are doing all the time? It is noone’s business but those involved. I have major problems with this with the royal family particularly, but that is a whole other blog post. And don’t try to tell me that Cheryl and Tess have a right to know. They do have a right to know, but in private, behind closed doors, to deal with it and make informed decisions without public pressure.
Sexting might be the new “in thing” but really this is a case of celebrities jumping on a bad band wagon. I’m actually gobsmacked that they are so stupid, and the boys deserve the negative attention. Really it’s the girls I feel sorry for. We really do fall for some idiots.
